Three times within just 24 hours, a La Masia graduate made their mark on the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

For Spain against France, Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo scored the goals to send La Roja through with the former’s left-footed strike from outside the box arguably the most memorable goal of the entire tournament.

Both players came through Barcelona’s famous academy.

The following day, Xavi Simons struck another long-range stunner to give the Netherlands an early lead against England. While the Dutch ultimately lost, Simons - another La Masia graduate - caught the eye.

Euro 2024 has been heavily influenced by Barcelona’s academy. La Masia has re-established itself as the most productive in world football - so why was it ignored for so long?
