Scotland went 23 years without appearing at a major tournament. 

An entire generation passed without The Tartan Army travelling to a World Cup or European Championship. For over two decades, Scotland were exiled from the top level of international football.

Euro 2024, however, will be the country’s second successive European Championships.

They also came close to qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, losing just one out of 10 qualifiers, and have won back-to-back promotions in the UEFA Nations League.

England, as Tartan Army members like to mention, will be in League B of the Nations League later this year while Scotland will play in League A.

None of this, however, would compare to Scotland making the last 16 of a major tournament for the first time in their history.

That is the stated aim for Steve Clarke and his players this summer - so can they do it?
