Isco’s stay in Seville looked destined to be a short one. A very short one.

Released by Sevilla just four months into a two-year contract last season, the midfielder appeared to be finished at the top level. They used to say ‘No Isco, no disco,’ but the lights had gone out on Isco’s career.

Less than a year on, Isco is still in Seville - and he’s thriving. The lights are back on, but they’re green and white lights - the colours of Real Betis, Sevilla’s fiercest rivals. 

Los Verdiblancos have been rewarded for giving Isco a second chance when few believed he deserved one. The 31-year-old looks like his old self again and has quickly become an icon at the Benito Villamarin.
