Four hours and 36 minutes after kick-off, the longest match in Ukrainian league history finally ended.

That’s how long it took Dnipro and FC Oleksandriya to complete a Ukrainian Premier League fixture last November due to a series of air-raid sirens that stopped play.Β

It surpassed the previous record of four hours and 27 minutes set by FC Rukh and FC Metalist - also due to air-raid sirens. This is the reality of playing football in Ukraine as Russia continues its illegal invasion of the country.

Amid the most challenging of circumstances, though, Ukrainian football is still standing. The Ukrainian Premier League season is set for a thrilling finale and the national team could still qualify for Euro 2024.
